Certainly didn't do a marvelous job, but definitely stitched up.

Losing their 3 best players required a major overhaul just to keep at the same level. The decision makers made sure it was as difficult as possible.

From the outside, always struck me as typical yank owner who doesn’t understand football.

Came in, gave O’Neill and absolute cartload to spend, and when they didn’t win anything in the first 3 years, lost interest and gave up.

I don't even care about Villa!

They only appointed Hendrick ALMSTADT on 15 July 2015, perhaps Sherwood fucked off on holiday at that point?

Re: Remi Garde leaves villa
Aston Villa are ready to axe head of player recruitment Paddy Riley as they prepare to begin next season in the Championship, according to the Telegraph.

Riley originally spent seven years heading up Villa’s performance analysis department before leaving the club in 2012 to become scouting coordinator at Liverpool.

However, he returned to B6 in 2014 to take up a more hands-on role and, along with former sporting director Hendrik Almstadt, is believed to have been the driving force behind the team’s summer transfer spending, which saw 13 signings made with the funds raised from the sales of Fabian Delph and Christian Benteke.

did they sign for villa because of the OS though p?

Re: Remi Garde leaves villa
Good riddance to them.

I sincerely hope that Everton are next for the drop.

Horrible fucking club and they have a real hard on for us at the moment.

They are, at best, very fucking ordinary and I hope they go down Leeds United style.

Steve P 10:32 Wed Mar 30
Re: Remi Garde leaves villa
Oh, so Sherwood didn't sign the foreign players?

Funny that, here's what he said about signing Jordan AYEW

The Villa manager, Tim Sherwood, told the club’s website: “I’m really pleased to bring Jordan to the football club. He is a fantastic young player who is perfectly suited to the Premier League.”

Here's what he said about Jordan AMAVI

Manager Tim Sherwood said: "I'm delighted to have secured the services of someone we consider to be a terrific young player.

"Jordan has been one of the outstanding players in Ligue 1 and is still very young and can become even better.

"There were a lot of clubs after him this summer so we are really pleased to welcome him to the Club."

I could go on, but I think we can all see where this is going?

So Sherwood is either a complete tosspot of a manager, or he did a marvelous job, fronting shit transfers that some Dutch bloke lumbered him with.

Apparently transfers were down to a Dutch bloke formerly with Arsenal.

Dunno why but I hope it was Glenn Helder

We've been linked with taking a punt on him this summer

Re: Remi Garde leaves villa
Apparently transfers were down to a Dutch bloke formerly with Arsenal. He wanted to go for young French players with potential.

Sherwood wanted proven Premiership players such as Lennon, Townsend and Richards. Lescott was his choice but it became apparent he was no longer the defender he once was. I think Gestede was a gamble by him as well.

They brought the new manager in with the hope that as he was French he would bring out the best with the new youngsters.

Delph was set to stay until Liverpool bid silly money for Benteke and invoked his clause.

Shambles of a club ruined by people who know bugger all about football.

Puts into perspective how well everything is going for us.

Martin O'neil had them in the top five when he walked because they didn't give him the money they promised him, been one way ever since

At the end of last season they had made the FA Cup final and finished the season well.
Sherwood lost Given, Vlaar, Delph & Benteke & Grealish has spent all season at the hairdressers.
______

They were lucky with their cup run, and anyone who saw their abject performance at the final could see they were a side that would continue to struggle. I love it, cant stand a single snidey, fiickle thing about the cunts!

Sven Roeder 10:02 Wed Mar 30
Re: Remi Garde leaves villa
It should have.
I'm not close enough to Villa to say how much say Sherwood had in the players bought.
Whoever bought them didn't do a very good job.
Sherwood couldn't get enough out of them and Garde had no effect whatsoever.
Garde should have walked in January when he was given no support to rescue them.

Steve P 9:57 Wed Mar 30
Re: Remi Garde leaves villa
They spent £50 million. That amount ought to provide enough to replace Vlaar, Delph and Benteke - Given wasn't in the side anyway?

They also had an incredible amount of players out on loan - 19.

I like the way WHO can forensically analyse transfers as to whether it was the manager or not. Apparently, it wasn't anything to do with sSherwood.

The players they brought in (4 Jordans , the hasbeens Lescott & Richards plus Ayew's Dad) were never going to do it.
I'm not sure whose work they were.

I hunk both those two was the reason Garde couldn't save them.

Rabbit in the headlights from day one. Sherwood could hardly have done worse, or Lambert for that matter.

Sven Roeder 9:20 Wed Mar 30
Re: Remi Garde leaves villa
Yes, he can have a go at Chesterfield if he likes.
Was on the recommendation of Wenger when someone who knew the league or a young English manager was a better choice.
Villa's demise has been a long time coming & the owner had it coming. He needs to go and they need to rip it up and start again or they will drop straight through.
Maybe if Sunderland get relegated Big Sam will want to move back to Dudley.
